My Story
Some of you know my harrowing story. Many of you have an idea that I’ve come to serve you out of a sense of mission. I want to tell you my story in brief detail, give you the benefit of my research and experiences, and help you avoid needless suffering for yourself, you family, and your friends.
As young children my brother and I watched our mother become very ill as the days went by. Our father had taken her to the General Practitioner who initially told her she may be going thru the change of life early or something else he wasn’t certain because her condition didn’t fit any specific diagnosis. What had happened? He recommended she see other healthcare professionals to rule out other diseases. We went from doctor to doctor terrified by what we might hear, yet desperately wanting answers. Each confirmed what they thought it might be then added or it could be this (still unknown answers). We were not any closer to our answers, but my parents resolve multiplied. So they sought the care of a neurologist referred by the GP, he admitted he really didn’t know enough about her condition to be able to narrow it down. Then a doctor recommended a hysterectomy thinking that should resolve her symptoms. At this point I was beginning to feel like my mother was their guinea pig paying for the experiment. And it was an expensive one, with my mother’s life and our family’s future on the line.
As a school teacher the consideration for drug therapy at the time was not an option. She spent much of her time off from work sleeping and going from doctor to doctor. When a customer of my grandmother’s recommended she see a specialist in Erie, PA my father jumped at the chance and immediately drove my mother even with her paranoia of being out for long drives. The chance to meet with a chiropractor had sparked my parents curiosity, and that’s why they made the drive. He focused on the structure using a Thompson Technique and in combination with the use of molasses we started to see miraculous results.
Within weeks my mother became the wife, mother, sister
and daughter God intended her to be.
In my late teens my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer and back then it was definitely considered a death sentence. Again after watching her go from doctor to doctor to determine what should be done I felt that she too was being their guinea pig at her own expense. Daily, weekly and monthly we continued to suffer the effects of society mandated "preventative therapy"
Both of these experiences had an enormous effect on my outlook. I had learned to trust a higher power because everything was more efficient that way. I had closed the door on the career I choose and was looking ahead to a new direction. Staying busy, I had waited for the opportunity to present itself.
Things fell into place in what others might term surprising fashion, and I became aware that I was destined to enter the chiropractic field.
I enrolled in chiropractic school and studied every technique I could, trying to absorb anything that would help me find answers for my family’s health and needs. I moved to Atlanta, GA to find the best school and I went to every weekend seminar taught by great doctors using the latest technique or a different variation.
After finishing chiropractic school I returned to my hometown to set up a practice in an area where I had found the most personal growth and my patients have found my services completely unique in this area which has deepened my commitment and enlarged my vision to serve all my patients, their families, and referred friends.
I’ve been in practice for many years, and I’ve seen the gamut of health issues. I saw a wider array of them in my own family than many people do. I am alternately incensed at the misinformation provided to suffering families, and overwhelmed by the need to share what I’ve learned so that others don’t trudge this horrific journey. Still, I know we change the world by helping one person at a time, who helps another, who helps, another...
Some of you have been through this. Most of you want to do everything you can to keep from going through this. Modern medicine with it’s surgeries and high tech drugs is a miracle for those with no other hope. But this baby boomer generation has seen its failures and side effects and wants something different. And I don’t know anyone who isn’t just a little bit cynical about being the source for the family doctor’s next big office or personal purchase. |
